Some losses call for something that simply endures. The Elips medium cremation urn is made from grade 316 stainless steel, shaped by hand in the Netherlands, and suited to both indoor and outdoor settings for as long as you need it there.

Material and construction

Grade 316 stainless steel is the benchmark for corrosion resistance in memorial applications. It contains a higher proportion of molybdenum than the more common grade 304, which makes it significantly more resistant to moisture, salt and prolonged outdoor exposure. The brushed finish is not purely decorative: the direction of the grind means light catches the surface at different angles, giving the urn a shifting, understated luster rather than a flat shine. It sits comfortably alongside modern and classical memorials in natural stone, glass and steel alike.

Made by hand in the Netherlands

Each urn is produced by specialist craftspeople in the Netherlands using professional-grade materials and tooling. This is handmade work, which means the lead time is four to six weeks from the point of order. In practice it is often sooner, but that window is quoted honestly to avoid disappointment. If you need a confirmed lead time before committing, the team can check current production schedules for you.

Filling and sealing the urn

Everything you need to fill and seal the urn is supplied with it. The process is straightforward, and the steps below take you through it. If you would prefer not to handle this yourself, the crematorium or funeral director can fill the urn on your behalf. If it ever needs to be reopened, that can also be arranged.

How to fill the Elips

• Place the supplied ash bag into the urn, leaving part of it extended above the opening to act as a funnel
• Pour the ashes in using that extended section as a guide, then seal the bag with the supplied cable tie and tuck it fully inside
• If you are not using the ash bag, a separate funnel is recommended to avoid spillage
• Clean the inner rim with the supplied cloth, ensuring it is free from dust, grease and moisture before you seal
• Remove the protective film from the lid, align it with the rim and press it into place in a single firm movement until it sits flush with the body

The seal uses high-bond double-sided tape rated for very high tensile load. Once closed, the urn is fully airtight. You can place ashes directly inside without an ash bag if you prefer: the grade 316 steel and the airtight closure make this entirely suitable. If there is any chance the ashes may need to be moved at a later stage, keeping them in the supplied bag makes that process simpler.

Personalization options

Laser engraving is available as an option for this urn for ashes. The process uses a computer-guided laser to work directly into the steel surface with precise, consistent results. The engraved image can be rendered in grayscale or in color. Image quality makes a real difference here: the sharper the file you supply, the more detailed the finished result. When you place your order, an on-screen menu guides you through selecting your engraving option and uploading your chosen image or text.

Practical information

The Elips carries a ten-year guarantee, which reflects the confidence placed in the materials and the people who make it. There is also a thirty-day return period on all memorial items, so if you need time to feel certain of your choice, that space is there. The urn is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and works with or without an ash bag, as described above.
