Green patina

The green layer is the more delicate of the two. Clean it gently with a soft cloth, water and a little mild soap. Do not scrub. Over the years the color settles and deepens, in much the same way that memories often do.

Brown patina

A clear wax coat is applied over the brown patina to halt the oxidation process. Indoors, keeping it dust-free is sufficient. If placed outside, the wax layer needs refreshing at least once every two years: apply with a cloth, leave it to absorb, then buff to a finish. That simple routine keeps the star looking as it should, through rain and frost alike.

Each urn is hand-made in the Netherlands once your order is placed, with a lead time of four to six weeks. For the current lead time, get in touch via chat or email and the team will confirm. All accessories for filling and sealing are included: an ash bag, a cable tie, a cleaning cloth and a high-adhesion double-sided sealing tape rated for significant pull. If you would prefer the crematorium or funeral director to fill the urn, that is entirely possible, and the team can also assist if the urn ever needs to be reopened.

Caring for the urn outdoors

Because this urn is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, it is worth knowing what each setting asks of you. The green patina needs only gentle cleaning. The brown finish needs a light application of beeswax every couple of years if it lives outside. Neither is demanding, but the brown finish does require that one regular step to protect it against the elements over time.
