Each cremation urn is fired twice: first at 900°F to harden the clay body, then again at 1,050°C once the satin glaze has been applied. That second firing bonds the glaze directly into the ceramic surface, producing the Memento's characteristic even black sheen. The color you see is the result of that process, not a layer of paint or foil. Because each piece is hand-finished, no two urns are identical.
