Still present, quietly close
Some things don't need to say much to mean everything. This bronze dreaming angel does exactly that: she rests, eyes closed, radiating a stillness that holds the feeling many people search for when words fall short.
Cast by the lost-wax method
This statue is made using the lost-wax casting process, known in French as cire perdue, one of the oldest and most demanding methods in bronze sculpture. A wax model is built up, encased in heat-resistant material, then fired so the wax melts away and molten bronze takes its place. Once cast, each piece is hand-finished and patinated individually. The process has remained essentially unchanged for centuries, and because every stage involves hand-work, no two statues are identical. You are choosing a singular object, not a production item.
What the dreaming angel means
The pose is deliberate. An angel at rest, eyes closed, is not absent. She watches over gently, without effort or strain. For those who think daily about the bond they shared with someone no longer here, that image carries a specific kind of comfort: that there is peace, and that the connection endures. Placing the statue somewhere that held meaning for the person you are remembering deepens that further. A favorite corner of the garden, a windowsill with a particular view, a spot in the house you pass every morning: all of these choices turn a beautiful object into something more.
Made for indoor and outdoor placement
Bronze is among the most resilient materials used in memorial art. It withstands moisture, frost and fluctuating temperatures without losing structural integrity, making it equally suited to a garden setting as to an interior shelf. A dowel on the base allows stable placement on softer ground outdoors.
Patina: character that builds over time
Bronze does not deteriorate with age the way other materials do. The natural patina that forms over time is a property of the material itself, and it deepens the appearance of the statue rather than diminishing it. No coating or treatment is needed to maintain the finish outdoors. If you would like a polish, a soft cloth and a little bronze oil will bring up the surface without affecting the patina underneath.
Practical details
The statue is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The dowel on the base provides stable fixing, including on grass or soil. No protective coating is required for outdoor placement. For cleaning, a soft cloth is sufficient; bronze oil can be applied occasionally if you prefer a richer sheen. Because each piece is individually hand-finished, minor variations in surface tone and patina are a natural feature of the casting process, not a flaw.
If you would like help deciding on placement or anything else, we are happy to talk it through at your own pace.
