A heart that keeps holding

If you are looking for something that honors your connection with someone you have lost, but feels nothing like a traditional urn, this memorial sculpture may be exactly what you need. A heart cut from black powder-coated steel, a glass ash pendant at its center, and a hand-finished wooden base that anchors the whole piece. Present in your home, and never intrusive.

Steel and wood, made with skill

The heart is formed from 2 mm coated steel. That coating is applied through powder coating, an electrostatic process in which negatively charged powder particles are drawn onto the steel and then fused in an oven to create a smooth, hardwearing surface. The result is the deep matte-black finish you see on the finished piece. The wooden base is hand-finished and color-treated individually, which means each one differs slightly from the next. That is not inconsistency. It is what handwork looks like.

How the sculpture works

The base contains a recess sized to hold the ash tube supplied with the sculpture. You fill the tube with a symbolic amount of ashes, set it into the recess, and seal the opening with the self-adhesive disc that comes with the piece. The glass ash pendant at the center of the heart offers a second place for remembrance: ashes, a small lock of hair, a fragment of fabric, or any other small keepsake that connects you to the person you are remembering. The sculpture holds two layers of memory at once.

What the heart means

The heart shape is not decorative shorthand. It is the most direct symbol of the bond you shared, one that does not end with a farewell. The form of this piece reflects its purpose literally: it holds something of your loved one inside the heart itself. That connection between shape and meaning gives the sculpture its quiet weight, for you and for anyone who sees it in your home.

Placement and everyday use

This keepsake urn is designed for indoor use. It sits naturally on a sideboard, windowsill, or occasional table and needs no special surface or display arrangement. The combination of black steel and a wooden base suits both contemporary and more traditional interiors without demanding to be the center of the room.

What to know about the materials

Wood is a natural material. The base may carry knots or slight variations in grain, and small surface cracks can appear over time as the wood responds to changes in temperature and humidity. This is characteristic of the material and does not affect the stability or function of the piece. The steel, protected by the powder-coat process, is well suited to everyday indoor conditions and will not degrade with normal use.

Making it your own

The glass pendant at the heart of this cremation urn is where the most considered act of remembrance happens. Rather than leaving it empty, think about what small object best represents the person you are remembering: something they wore, something they kept, something that was simply theirs. That choice is what turns a well-made object into something genuinely yours.

If you have questions about filling the pendant or positioning the sculpture, we are happy to talk it through with you at whatever pace suits.
