The result is a smooth, even surface that holds up reliably in everyday indoor conditions. The base is solid wood, hand-finished and color-matched to the sculpture. Wood is a natural material and may carry small knots, surface variations or fine hairline cracks caused by changes in temperature. These are characteristics of the material, not defects. Set into the base is a discreet ash reservoir. A small ash tube is supplied with the sculpture and fits into this space; it closes with an included adhesive aluminum seal.
