Where sea meets sky

If your loved one had a connection to the coast, to open horizons, or to the particular stillness you find at the edge of the sea, this urn holds something of that. The Lighthouse design is rooted in a real place, and that rootedness is part of what makes it meaningful.

Hand-painted ceramic, fired to last

This cremation urn is hand-painted in a working pottery studio where craftsmanship is taken seriously. The artist uses paint powders developed to their own recipe, applied with fine brushes that demand steady concentration. Once the painting is complete, a transparent glaze is prepared by dissolving glaze powder in water and spraying it onto the ceramic at a precise thickness. The urn then dries for several days before being fired at temperatures between 1,050 and 1,250 degrees Celsius. At that heat, the glaze powder melts into a glass-like protective layer that deepens and intensifies the colors beneath it. The result is visible in every piece.

A fitting place for someone who loved the sea

The bond you shared was particular to the two of you, and the right urn should reflect that. The lighthouse image on this urn for ashes speaks to something specific: wind, wide skies, the familiar outline of an island. The painting is detailed enough that the urn sits naturally in a room as a decorative piece, while remaining entirely what it is.

Personalization through painting

A name, a date, or a short personal phrase can be added directly to the painted design as painted text. You can get in touch using the contact form, and the artist will follow up directly to talk through what you have in mind. You decide what appears on the urn.

Ash bag and candle use

This urn is suitable for use with or without an ash bag. Vase-shaped models in this range also allow for a tea light or small candle to be placed inside, if that is something you would find meaningful.

Practical considerations for ceramic

Ceramic is a durable material for indoor use and holds up well over time. The glaze layer protects the painted surface from fading, and the colors will not be affected by light or age. That said, ceramic does not withstand impact well. A fall from height is likely to cause damage, so it is worth placing this urn on a stable, level surface away from areas of household traffic. Handled with ordinary care, it will last indefinitely.

Commissioning a personalized design

If you would like this funeral urn painted with a different scene, or with details drawn from your loved one's life, that conversation is welcome. Use the contact form and the artist will be in touch to discuss what you have in mind at whatever pace suits you. If you'd like help deciding on wording or placement for the painted text, we're happy to think it through with you.
