Placing a candle at a grave is a deliberate act. It says you are here, you remember, you have not moved on. This stainless steel grave lantern protects that flame and, just as importantly, protects the memorial itself.

Grade 316 stainless steel, built for outdoor conditions

The lantern is made from grade 316 stainless steel, the same specification used in marine and coastal engineering where exposure to salt, moisture and pollutants is continuous. Grade 316 contains a higher concentration of molybdenum than standard stainless steel grades, which is what makes it genuinely resistant to long-term rain, frost and atmospheric corrosion. The brushed finish is applied directionally during production, a deliberate process that determines how light moves across the surface and gives the steel a quiet luster that does not dull or fade over time. You are choosing something that will look the same in ten years as it does today, with no maintenance required.

Protecting the memorial, not just the flame

Candle wax on natural stone is a persistent problem. It penetrates the surface, leaves staining, and removing it properly means professional re-polishing of the entire stone. This lantern prevents that. The flame burns enclosed, the wax stays contained, and the memorial beneath remains undamaged. On the underside of the lantern there is a fixing recess that accepts a plug, allowing the lantern to be secured firmly to a stone plinth or directly to the memorial. It sits stable in wind rather than shifting or tipping.

The clean, considered design sits naturally alongside memorials in bronze, glass, natural stone and stainless steel. The lantern is available in two dimensions, so you can choose the size that suits the scale of the monument and the space available at the grave.

A single choice, with nothing to worry about afterwards

If you want to mark a place in a way that lasts, grade 316 stainless steel is the right material for it. It does not age in the usual sense. It does not discolor, corrode or ask anything of you over time. What remains is simply the light.

The candle or tealight is not included with the lantern and should be purchased separately. Because the lantern is designed for permanent outdoor use, a real candle, a tealight, or a flameless LED candle will all work well within it. The fixing recess on the base means the lantern can be anchored securely rather than simply rested on the stone, which matters on an exposed grave or in an open cemetery where wind is a practical consideration.
