Placing a light at a graveside is one of the oldest forms of remembrance. This stainless steel grave lantern is built to honor that gesture properly, standing firm through every season without asking anything of you in return.

Grade 316 stainless steel

Not all stainless steel performs the same way outdoors. This lantern is made from grade 316 stainless steel, an alloy that combines iron, chromium, nickel and carbon in proportions that give it superior resistance to moisture, salt and the kind of sustained exposure a graveside position involves. Grade 304, the more common alloy, is more vulnerable to those conditions over time. The brushed finish on the surface is deliberate: the direction of the grain catches light at different angles, giving the lantern an even, composed sheen that holds up well after years of outdoor use. It needs no seasonal treatment and very little maintenance.

Fits the memorial you already have

The clean, modern lines sit comfortably alongside bronze, natural stone, glass and stainless steel monuments, whether the memorial is modest or substantial. A fixing point on the underside accepts a plug, allowing you to secure the lantern to a stone plinth or the monument itself so it stays in place when the wind picks up.

Why a lantern matters more than a bare candle

If you have considered placing a candle directly on a headstone, it is worth knowing what that can mean for the stone over time. Wax dripping onto natural stone leaves stains that are genuinely difficult to remove, and in many cases the whole surface needs professional re-polishing before it looks right again. A grave lantern protects the memorial completely. The flame burns enclosed, the stone stays as it should be, and the light still does everything you intend it to do.

Practical considerations for outdoor use

This lantern is designed exclusively for outdoor use and is fully suited to it. Grade 316 stainless steel does not rust, does not fade and requires no protective treatment between seasons. You can leave it in place throughout the year. It is available in three sizes, so you can choose the proportions that suit your memorial. A candle, tealight or LED light is not included and should be purchased separately.
