Production starts with a cast framework built from fiberglass, resin and plaster. Over that, two or three thick coats of lacquer are applied, each mixed with plaster, and the urn is rinsed with water between every coat. Color is added next, sealed beneath a layer of varnish. A final varnish coat follows, then the surface is smoothed and hand-polished. That process is what gives the finished piece its depth of color and its resilience for everyday indoor use.

Fiberglass is also notably light for its size, which makes it easy to move or reposition without any risk of strain.

What blue means, and why it might be right

Blue carries a particular weight in a great many traditions: depth, stillness, something that reaches beyond the everyday.
