Decorating begins with charcoal outlines, which the painter then fills freehand using brushes made from marten and squirrel hair. The paint itself is water-based, and depth of color is built up by varying the dilution with water. The characteristic blue does not exist in the pot: the cobalt oxide mixture, prepared to an age-old formula, appears black under the glaze and shifts to that familiar Delft Blue only during firing. It is chemistry and patience in equal measure.

This keepsake urn is designed for indoor use only. The base is sealed with a compact closure and a natural cork stopper, keeping the contents safely enclosed. Depending on your choice within the collection, the seal is available in blue or white. Ceramic is susceptible to breakage if knocked or dropped, so choose a stable, flat surface away from edges and out of reach of high-traffic areas. Keep it away from damp conditions, as prolonged moisture can affect both the glaze and the seal over time.
