A place that endures

Choosing a grave monument is one of the most significant decisions you will make. Not because the options are few, but because so much has to feel right at once. This cremation urn gravestone, cut from granite and fitted with a glass text plate, offers something firm to hold onto: a recognizable form, a material built to last, and space for the words that genuinely matter.

Granite and glass: how the combination works

Granite is one of the hardest natural stones used in memorial craft. It forms deep within the earth under extreme pressure and heat, and that origin shows in its dense, closed structure. It does not weather easily, does not discolor in rain, and holds its surface over decades. The glass text plate sits as a separate element on the granite face. Glass catches light in a way stone cannot, which means the name or text reads with a clarity and presence of its own, even on overcast days.

Care and durability

Granite is virtually frost-resistant and does not react to moisture or acid rainfall the way softer stones can. The glass plate is well suited to outdoor conditions, though it benefits from a gentle approach when cleaning. Avoid abrasive products or stiff brushes on the glass surface. A damp cloth is sufficient for routine maintenance. The monument will keep its appearance with very little effort over the years.

The words you choose, fixed for good

The glass text plate is the part of this urn for ashes that you determine entirely yourself. That is more than a practical detail. It is an opportunity to set down something that belonged to the two of you: a phrase he always used, the years she filled with her presence, or simply the name you have known for so long. Text engraving can be added to the plate, carrying a name, dates, or a short personal line.

Personalization options

The following options are available when ordering this funeral urn monument. Each can be discussed before production begins, and a proof will be sent to you for approval before anything is made.

  • Text engraving on the glass plate, including name, dates and a personal addition of your choice
  • A choice of granite colors to suit the setting of the cemetery or your own preference
  • Non-standard dimensions available on request

Practical guidance before you order

Choosing a grave monument also means thinking carefully about where it will be placed. Please read the information below before placing your order.

Check with the cemetery first

Before ordering, it is worth speaking with your cemetery manager or local authority about what is and is not permitted at your particular site. Some cemeteries specify permitted dimensions, materials and forms for grave monuments. Certain sites also require that installation is carried out by a local stonemason rather than independently. Any concrete base slab and pile foundations beneath the gravestone will need to be installed by the cemetery. If you are placing the monument in a private garden, a plastic urn vault is also available, which you can fit yourself. Non-standard dimensions can be arranged, so do ask when you order.

Approval before production

Once your order is placed, a proof of the monument will be sent to you for review. This gives you the chance to check every detail carefully before production begins.

If you'd like to talk through the granite color, the layout, or any aspect of the order, we're happy to help at whatever pace suits you.
