How ceramic reaches this quality

Ceramic does not become beautiful by accident. For the Serenity, carefully selected raw materials are blended into a workable clay body. A technical drawing is produced first, then a plaster model is cast from it, and that model becomes the mold from which each piece is made. Once dry, the surface is smoothed and fired at 900°C. The glaze is then applied and the piece goes back into the kiln at 1,050°C. That two-stage process gives the ceramic its depth and its color stability. The enamel glaze absorbs light rather than reflecting it flatly, and the color stays true to the surface rather than sitting on top of it.

The Serenity is available in a range of enamel colors. You might choose a shade that reflects something about the person you are remembering, or simply one that sits well in the room where the urn will be kept. Each color goes through the same production process, so the consistency of form and finish is the same across the range.

Keep it away from damp and avoid storing it anywhere with significant temperature fluctuation, such as an unheated outbuilding. Treated with everyday care, ceramic holds its shape and color well over time. The urn is suitable for use with or without an ash bag.
