Patina: no two urns are identical

Once the urn is complete, a patina is applied by hand directly to the bronze surface. Because every application is done manually, the result differs slightly from piece to piece. You choose between green or brown, and the finish you receive will be genuinely unique. The urn sits naturally alongside modern and traditional memorials in stainless steel, glass or natural stone.

Caring for your bronze keepsake urn

Bronze is durable and suited to both indoor and outdoor placement. The metal itself asks nothing of you. The patina, however, benefits from a little care to keep the urn looking as you intend.

Green patina: gentle cleaning is all that's needed

For urns with a green patina, remove surface dirt with a soft cloth, water and a little mild soap. Avoid scrubbing, as the layer is delicate. Over time, the green will settle and become more even, which is a natural part of how the material ages.

Brown patina: protecting the wax layer

A light wax layer is applied over brown patina to slow oxidation and prevent the bronze from gradually turning green. Indoors, keeping the surface free of dust is sufficient. Outdoors, the wax layer needs refreshing at least every two years. To do this, apply beeswax with a cloth, allow it to absorb, then buff it out. This is a straightforward process and keeps the finish stable for years.

Filling and sealing the urn

Everything you need to fill and seal this cremation urn is included. The urn closes with a high-adhesion double-sided sealing tape rated for significant tensile load, so once sealed it holds securely. A filling guide and all accessories are supplied. If you would prefer not to fill the urn yourself, your crematorium or funeral director can do this for you. Should the urn need to be reopened at any point, our technicians are able to assist.

Lead time and bespoke options

Because each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands, production takes time. The standard lead time is four to six weeks, though in practice urns are often dispatched sooner. If you need an accurate current estimate, you are welcome to ask via chat or by emailing the customer service team.

Practical details

The urn is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. For outdoor placement, the brown patina requires beeswax maintenance every two years to protect the finish.
