Shaped around a circle that keeps moving

There are moments when words fall short and an object has to carry what cannot be said. The bronze keepsake urn 'Ellips' was designed from exactly that thought: a circle of life, tilted slightly, becomes an ellipse. Not closed, not finished, but continuing. A form that holds the bond you shared rather than drawing a line beneath it.

Handcrafted in bronze, made in the Netherlands

Each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands by specialist craftspeople, formed from sheet bronze that is welded and shaped into its final form. That process demands precision and experience, and you see it in the quality of the finish. Bronze is a stable, enduring material that requires no maintenance at its core. The colored patina, an oxide layer applied by hand to the surface, gives every urn its own character. No two are identical.

Meaning carried in every layer

The ellipse is not an arbitrary shape. The circle has long stood for continuity, for something without beginning or end. Tilt that circle and you have an ellipse: the same movement, a different dimension. If you are looking for an object that expresses not what has ended but what continues, this form makes sense.

Two patina finishes, each with its own character

The mini urn for ashes is available in two finishes, green or brown, each giving the piece a different quality of presence.

  • The green patina gives the urn a natural, almost organic appearance. To clean, wipe gently with a soft cloth, water and mild soap. Avoid hard scrubbing, as the layer is delicate. Over time the green tone settles and deepens into its own patina.
  • The brown patina is finished with a light wax layer that halts the oxidation process. Indoors, keeping it dust-free is enough. For outdoor placement, the wax layer needs attention roughly every two years: rub in beeswax, allow it to absorb, then buff to finish.

The urn sits well alongside modern and traditional memorials in stainless steel, glass and natural stone, and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Practical reassurance when you need it most

It is completely understandable to want to know what to expect, even for the details you would rather not have to think about.

Lead time and filling

This cremation urn is made to order, with a lead time of four to six weeks, though in most cases dispatch is possible sooner. If you need a current estimate, contact us by chat or email and we will check for you.

Everything you need to fill and seal the urn is included. The urn is sealed using high-bond double-sided tape capable of bearing considerable tension. The steps are straightforward: place the included ash bag inside the urn, use the protruding section as a funnel, pour in the ashes, seal the bag with the included cable tie and tuck it fully inside. If you prefer not to use the ash bag, a standard funnel works well to avoid spillage. Once filled, ensure the inner rim is completely free of dust, grease and moisture using the cloth provided, then press the cap firmly and evenly into place until the base sits completely flush. The urn is then sealed. You are also very welcome to leave the filling to the crematorium or funeral director, and if the urn ever needs to be reopened for any reason, our technicians can do that for you.

Bespoke design

If you would like a custom cremation urn, it is possible to develop a bespoke design together. Send a sketch, photograph or reference and a design will be prepared for your approval, followed by a quote. There is no obligation at that stage.

Care and material considerations

Bronze is a resilient material, but the patina layer applied to this urn's surface is hand-finished and should be treated with care. Outdoors, the brown wax finish needs refreshing periodically to protect against weathering. The green patina requires gentle cleaning only. Neither finish should be scrubbed or treated with abrasive products, as this will damage the surface layer. With straightforward care, this urn for ashes will hold its character for many years.

If you have questions about the finish, lead time or design options, we are happy to talk them through with you at your own pace.
