Avoid placing it directly on stainless steel or porous stone, as these materials can react chemically with the corten surface. Cleaning is simple: a damp cloth with a mild soap solution is all that is needed. If the surface is scratched or chipped, corten steel repairs itself by forming a new oxide layer over the affected area. The color in that spot may temporarily differ from the surrounding patina before it blends back in over time. The urn can be used with or without an ash bag, depending on what feels right to you.
