Each 'Breaker' is made by hand in the Netherlands by specialist craftspeople working with bronze sheet, shaped through cutting, welding and bending into its final form. That process demands precision at every stage, and the result shows it. Bronze as a base material does not deteriorate and requires no maintenance over time.

Patina: no two urns are the same

A colored patina is applied to the surface by hand, creating an oxide layer that gives the urn its character. Because this is a manual process, the result differs from piece to piece. The 'Breaker' is available in green or brown.

• The green patina deepens gradually over time, becoming more even with age. Clean gently with a soft cloth, water and mild soap. Avoid scrubbing: the layer is delicate.
• The brown patina is finished with a light wax coat that halts further oxidation. Indoors, dust occasionally. Outdoors, re-apply beeswax every two years: wipe on with a cloth, allow to absorb, then buff off.

What bronze means in practice

Bronze is a genuinely durable, weather-resistant material. The 'Breaker' is suitable for both indoor and outdoor placement, which gives you real flexibility in where you choose to keep or place the urn. The patina layer is the one element that needs occasional attention. The bronze beneath it does not.

Care and longevity: what to keep in mind

The bronze itself will not degrade. The patina is the only part of this urn for ashes that requires any care at all. For the green variant, clean gently and never abrade the surface. For the brown variant used outdoors, the wax coat needs refreshing roughly every two years, a straightforward process described above. It is worth understanding this distinction before you choose your finish.

Filling and sealing the urn

Everything you need to fill and seal the 'Breaker' is included. The urn is sealed using a double-sided adhesive tape with high bonding strength, capable of bearing considerable tension. The process is straightforward. An ash bag can be used or omitted depending on your preference. If using one, empty the supplied bag into the urn, use the extended portion as a funnel, pour the ashes in, and seal the bag with the supplied cable tie before tucking it inside the urn. If not using the bag, a funnel is recommended to avoid spillage. Once filled, clean the inner seating rim carefully with the supplied cloth to remove any dust, grease or moisture, then press the cap into place in a single movement until it sits flush. The funeral home or crematorium can handle this for you if you prefer, and if the urn ever needs to be reopened for any reason, our technicians are able to do that.
